Remote Sensing Systems has updated its optimally interpolated (OI) SST products to version 5.0.
RSS has updated the CCMP V2.0 dataset through April 29, 2017. (Note that we can't do April 30 until the next month's background field is available.)
Remote Sensing Systems has released a new version (V4.0) of the Lower Tropospheric (TLT) products. Browse imagery and time series plots now show the new V4.0 data.
The issue with the observed degradation in the SMAP wind speed BETA Version starting in May 2017 has been tracked down and traced back to an error in the sea ice mask, which affected the sensor calibration leading to erroneous results. The problem has been resolved.
A new press release from Dr. Carl Mears using the Temperature Total Troposphere (TTT) dataset shows that 2016 is the warmest year since the satellite record began in 1979. The previous record, set during the last major El Niño in 1998, was broken by 0.31 degrees Fahrenheit.
